The years and years that introduced animals have walked the wilds of Catalina have allowed the rains to carve impressive scars into the hillsides. This was taken northwest of Salta Verde beach, not far from Valley of the Moon.

Song of the Day: Andrew Bird - The Trees Were Mistaken
Andrew Bird has a new tour-only EP called Soldier On. Along with some alternate versions of songs from Armchair Apocrypha, he also has a few new stunners. ”The Trees Were Mistaken” takes a repetitious percussion beat and adds layers upon it until you barely notice it anymore. Yet the hypnotic effect of the beat stays with you, turning the song into a trance-like affair. Quite different than a lot of his stuff, but no less impressive.
