Looking Northward

This is Katie Bair at Ben Weston beach on the backside of Catalina. We went over to the backside to surf and cook dinner on the beach and were treated to a beautiful sunset. This shot was taken looking eastward over the island interior, and Katie is looking northward (obviously).
I am constantly reminded of New Zealand as I look at the island’s interior during the rainy season. It remindes me specifically of the hills and grassy knolls south of Nelson on the South Island… Catalina is pretty amazing, but it’s no New Zealand.
