Today is our friend and oD guest photographer Pete’s birthday… Happy Birthday, old friend!

Back in the day, long before I thought of picking up a camera for any sort of artistic pursuit, I really only photographed rock climbing. This is Pete in Pawtuckaway State Park about to attempt a rock climb, and at the time this was taken it became one of my favorite photos. In many ways, because of everything it reminds me of, it still is. Yeah, it’s a bad scan, and yeah, it’s not in perfect focus, and yeah, on and on… but this image captures the moment of peace and contemplation in a beautiful forest that leads up to the intensely concentrated effort of rock climbing.

In honor of Pete, I offer to you an mp3 of a song that will forever remind me of happy mischief with Peter Kinsley Osborn:
Beck - Beercan

A veritable tribute to a wonderful guy–I like the way the sun reflects off Peter!

Happy birthday, Pete! Here’s to many more years of all our bouldering together. We have to get a trip together one of these days, boys.
And blast that problem for being so elusive!

Happy birthday Peter Peter. Nice photo T, it makes me think of all those older climbing photos.

All - thanks for the kind words!
