I Fall In Love With The Light

I swear to God, I’ve never seen a human being closer to getting hit by a car than this kid came about 20 seconds after this picture. Of course, since it was Avalon, it was a golf cart, and the kid hardly noticed. Let’s just hope he never takes the ferry over to L.A, as I would actually place money on him getting struck by a vehicle within 14 minutes of setting foot on the mainland. Aside from that morbid hilarity, I was drawn to this picture by the fact that he was naturally highlighted, clearly happy, and that he is the main subject in a composition with a very consistent color palette.

Song of the Day: Califone - The Orchids
This is a cover of a song released in 1983 by Psychic TV, and manages to invoke some serious emotion through a simple descending bass line, some ambient noise, and some layered vocals. As I’m sure you can tell from my choices for the song of the day, music that creates atmosphere generally gets the most attention from me, and this song is no exception. A beautiful and impressive work.

gotta love golden time… this image reminds me of some or Bresson’s early work (had he shot in color). it’s just great, tull. i feel like it shout be in a flashback of Boyz n the Hood - Tre before he hit hard times. Anyways, thanks for the inspiring work.

This is a beautiful monochromatic shot that really works because of the energy coming from the little guy.

Great composition; the way the hillside curves really directs your eye toward the elephant...
