Bowriders

This shot is of 4 very playful bottlenose dolphins just off of Long Point on Catalina Island. A pod of about 40 surrounded our boat in mid-January, surfing the wake and bouncing in and out of the water around us. This shot was taken standing on the bow of the boat looking straight down at them, traveling about 10 knots. The most incredible part? How badly they left us in the metaphorical dust when they got bored of playing. Incredible animals.

Wonderful shot!

I swear to you this looked black and white on my old computer - it’s like a whole new oD now!

On the boat ride back we saw literally about 30 dolphins jumping in and out of the water and it looked like a race. We could still see them for about 10 minutes until the started going in another direction.
