Birds on a Wire

This was taken somewhere in Massachusetts on New Year’s Eve. I don’t really miss the plethora of power lines characteristic of New England highways out here on Catalina. Anyway, I was inspired by vx400 and his fantastic use of negative space in a lot of his images. I also went to a Sigur Ros concert where they incorporated an awesome video in the background of birds taking flight off of a wire. And finally, I really like the Rogue Wave song “Bird on a Wire” off of their new album. So I guess there were a number of inspirations for this image…
Check out vx400 if you have the time (especially this image of a sparrow on a fence).

the stark contrast works well for this image. i do wish that the image would be sharper though.

Good spot, shame about the slight blur. I’ve been after an image like that - the birds still seem to be hiding though.

I took this right around the time my autofocus mirror started malfunctioning - that explains the slight blur. You both are right, however - I do wish it were sharper.
