Atmosphere

Snowstorms create some of the most incredible monochromatic scenes. This is a group of trees on Ralph Lauren’s property near Ridgway, Colorado. That day was amazing - bitterly cold with a fog that was freezing onto all the trees (and roads). It was not a good day to be out driving the family Prius.
As this photo’s major draw is its atmospheric feel, today’s song of the day is also draped in atmosphere. Baltimore-based Beach House released an eponymous debut album last year that was met with a lot of critical acclaim, but failed to stir me all that much at the time. Since then it has grown on me quite a bit, with the song Master of None being one of the major reasons. A steady drum beat and a lazy tempo frame a song that has a much more beautiful and intricate melody than is apparent on first listen. Highly recommended for your next foggy morning.
the pixelation is mostly from the slight snowfall and the fog, but it was exacerbated by the b&w conversion and sharpening…
looks like a really old silver gelatin print. what resolution was the picture taken at? is the pixelation just on my monitor?
