At the Bottom of Everything

El Victor, Shafer Canyon, Canyonlands National Park.
This picture gives me much the same reaction as Thursday’s image, which is a feeling I really enjoy getting from photographs.

I’m back on Catalina now, so hopefully I’ll have some island/ocean pictures soon. Then again, we’re experiencing record low temperatures in Southern California, so maybe I’ll just sit in front of my space heater and listen to music.

One song I’ve been enjoying as of late is Beauty by The Shivers. A gentle electric guitar ballad with lo-fi production, the song is really made memorable by the largely detached vocals that crescendo to a beautiful harmony section at the 2:20 mark, singing, “Beauty, beauty, beauty, there’s no one near me. There never was.” Stunning.

Haha, classic use of ’El Victor’ in the description. Just noticed that…
